Dame Kelly Holmes, president of Commonwealth Games England, launches the all new brand identity to the press in Trafalgar Square.
In one years time over eight thousand athletes will be competing in Delhi, the last Olympic tournament ahead of the London Olympics in 2012.
The new official logo consists of a powerful red lion, one of the most popular and traditional symbols of English sport which brings strength and dynamism to the England team’s image. The “WE ARE ENGLAND” strapline celebrates the diversity and togetherness of the England team as well as being a rallying cry that everyone in the country can get behind and support in the build up to success in Delhi 2010 and beyond.
Dame Kelly was rather taken with the tuk tuks and even drove them around the Square, being careful of course not to run into any of her fellow athletes.
